The movement commends those States that have not conducted tests since 1992 and strongly urges all nuclear-weapon States to refrain from conducting any tests during the comprehensive test-ban treaty negotiations and until its entry into force, as it considers the conclusion of the treaty as an essential step towards achieving the goal of complete elimination of nuclear weapons.

As a State party, not only to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, but also to the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter, and the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, Japan is committed to the effective implementation of those conventions, and strongly urges every country that has not done so, to ratify the conventions.

The Committee reiterates its previous recommendations (CRC/C/OPSC/YEM/CO/1, para. 32) and strongly urges the State party to ensure the registration of all births, including by raising awareness among government officers, midwives, doctors, community and religious leaders and establishing civil registration mechanisms in hospitals and a registration and monitoring mechanism of births taking place in homes.
