4.1 The revised 1992-1993 appropriation under this section comprises resources for the period from January to June 1992 approved by the General Assembly in resolution 47/212 B of 6 May 1993 for the former Office of Political and General Assembly Affairs and Secretariat Services.

Previously these activities were programmed under subprogramme 3, Economic and Social Council affairs and Secretariat Services, of programme 3, Political and General Assembly affairs and Secretariat Services, of the medium-term plan for the period 1992-1997.

61. The second core function, provision of secretariat services to the General Assembly, the Security Council and a number of related intergovernmental bodies falls under programmes 2 (Political and Security Council affairs), 3 (Political and General Assembly affairs and Secretariat Services), 4 (Special political questions, trusteeship and decolonization) and 5 (Question of Palestine) of the revised medium-term plan for the period 1992-1997.
١٦ - أما الاختصاص اﻷساسي الثاني، الذي هو توفير خدمات اﻷمانة للجمعية العامة ومجلس اﻷمن وعدد من الهيئات الحكوميـــة الدولية ذات الصلة، فيقع في إطار البرامج ٢ )الشؤون السياسية وشؤون مجلس اﻷمن( و ٣ )الشؤون السياسية وخدمات اﻷمانة العامة وشؤون الجمعية العامة( و ٤ )المسائل السياسية الخاصة والوصاية وإنهاء الاستعمار( و ٥ )قضية فلسطين( من الخطة المتوسطة اﻷجل المنقحة للفترة ١٩٩٢-١٩٩٧.

It is clear, on the one hand, that vibrant multilingualism is the guarantor of more effective communication among the different departments and services of the Secretariat.
