It is important to examine the future role that United Nations mediators, negotiators and heads of missions may play in addressing child protection issues during peace negotiations and in peace agreements as a way of ensuring that this critical issue is carried forward as a priority into the post-conflict peace consolidation and peacebuilding phases.
