The AG13 agreed at its fifth session that a compilation text on the functions and procedures of the multilateral consultative process, contained in annex II of its report on the session, which reflects points raised, as well as areas of convergence and divergence, would form the principal basis for discussion by the Group at its sixth session.

The report advocated that the existing oversight functions and procedures within the agencies should be strengthened and brought up to the level established by General Assembly resolution 48/218 B and that lacunae should be addressed by the agencies, through the creation of an oversight function or with assistance from the Office, in which case a mechanism for financing the additional workload would have to be found.
