وأتابع الحديث مستشهداً بكلمات من نص قرار الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة رقـم 56/24 T، الذي قدَّمهُ زميلي الموقّر، السفير آندري إردوس، بصفته رئيساً للجنة الأولى، " هناك حاجة ملحة لإحراز تقدم في مجال نزع السلاح وعدم انتشاره من أجل المساعدة على الحفاظ على السلام والأمن الدوليين، ومن أجل المساهمة في ما يبذل من جهود على الصعيد العالمي للقضاء على الإرهاب " .
