The present report was prepared pursuant to General Assembly resolution 58/197 of 23 December 2003, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General, in collaboration with the secretariat of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), to report to the Assembly at its fifty-ninth session on the implementation of that resolution and on developments in the multilateral trading system.
