٨ - تكرر التأكيد على أن استغلال ونهب الموارد البحرية وغيرها من الموارد الطبيعية لﻷقاليم المستعمرة وغير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي من قبل المصالح الاقتصادية اﻷجنبية، مما يشكل انتهاكا لقرارات اﻷمم المتحدة ذات الصلة، يعتبران تهديدا لسلامة وازدهار تلك اﻷقاليم؛

1. Reaffirms the inalienable right of the peoples of colonial and Non-Self-Governing Territories to self-determination and independence and to the enjoyment of the natural resources of their Territories, as well as their right to dispose of those resources in their best interests;
١ - تعيد تأكيد حق شعوب اﻷقاليم المستعمرة وغير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي غير القابل للتصرف في تقرير المصير والاستقلال وفي التمتع بالموارد الطبيعية ﻷقاليمها، فضلا عن حقها في التصرف في تلك الموارد بما يحقق مصالحها على خير وجه؛

These efforts represent the culmination of decades of work in the field of elections, both in developing international standards and through assistance to Trust and Non-Self-Governing Territories in their efforts to achieve self-determination.
وتمثل هذه الجهود حصيلة عقود من العمل في ميدان الانتخابات، في مجال وضع المعايير الدولية ومن خلال تقديم المساعدة لﻷقاليم المشمولة بالوصاية وغير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في جهودها المبذولة من أجل إحراز الحق فــي تقريــر المصير.

7. ٧ - تكرر التأكيد على أن قيام المصالح الاقتصادية اﻷجنبية باستغلال الموارد البحرية وغيرها من الموارد الطبيعية لﻷقاليم المستعمرة وغير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي استغلالا ضارا ونهبها، مما يشكل انتهاكا لقرارات اﻷمم المتحدة ذات الصلة، يعتبران تهديدا لسلامة تلك اﻷقاليم ولازدهارها؛

36. The experience of the United Nations in electoral verification and observation began with its activities in the Trust and Non-Self-Governing Territories.
36- إن تجربة الأمم المتحدة في التحقق من حسن سير الانتخابات ومراقبتها قد بدأت بأنشطتها في الأقاليم المشمولة بالوصاية وغير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي.

The Working Group therefore decided to recommend to the Special Committee that the seminar in the Caribbean region should be used as an occasion to carry out a mid-term review of the Plan of Action for the International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism and to hear the views of representatives of all the Trust and Non-Self-Governing Territories.

٦ - تكرر التأكيد على أن استغلال ونهب الموارد البحرية وغيرها من الموارد الطبيعية لﻷقاليم المستعمرة وغير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي من قبل المصالح الاقتصادية اﻷجنبية، مما يشكل انتهاكا لقرارات اﻷمم المتحدة ذات الصلة، يعتبران تهديدا لسلامة وازدهار تلك اﻷقاليم؛

3. Taking into account the above-mentioned resolutions, the President is of the view that the specialized agencies and international institutions associated with the United Nations should strengthen existing measures of support and formulate additional programmes of assistance to the Trust and Non-Self-Governing Territories.
٣ - ويرى رئيس اللجنة، آخذا في اعتباره القرارات المذكورة أعلاه، أنه ينبغي على الوكالات المتخصصة والمؤسسات الدولية المتصلة باﻷمم المتحدة أن تعزز تدابير الدعم القائمة، وأن تعد برامج اضافية لمساعدة اﻷقاليم المشمولة بالوصاية وغير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي.

As indicated in paragraph 78 above, among the activities to be undertaken in this connection is a regional seminar to be organized by the Committee in 1993 in the Pacific region to consider, in particular, issues relating to the situation in the Trust and Non-Self-Governing Territories in that region.
وكما جاء في الفقرة ٨٧ أعلاه، تشمل اﻷنشطة الجارية في هذا الصدد حلقة دراسية إقليمية ستقيمها اللجنة في عام ٣٩٩١ في منطقة المحيط الهادئ، لكي تنظر بالذات في قضايا تتعلق بالحالة في اﻷقاليم المشمولة بالوصاية وغير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي.
