12. It was also reported that on 2 August 1999, Kyaw Aung (age 23, trader), Kyaw Min Htun (age 20, student), Pyo Wai (age 19, student) and Maung Saw (age 18, student) were arrested at their home in Bago by military intelligence and are currently being detained at the MI3 interrogation centre in Bago.

342. The Special Rapporteur and the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar made a joint urgent appeal on 5 December 1996 on behalf of Zaw Win, Tin Hla, Kyaw Soe, Thi Thi Aung and Than Than Su Win, members of the Youth Wing of the NLD, who were reportedly arrested on 3 December 1996 and were said to be held at MI 12 headquarters for interrogation.

For example, on 15 August 1996 National League for Democracy (NLD) member Dr. Hlaing Myint, together with NLD member Kyaw Khin and student Maung Maung Wan, were sentenced to a total of 10 years' imprisonment (7 years under section 5 (j) of the Emergency Provisions Act and 3 additional years under the 1985 TV and Video Act).

The detention of Messrs. Min Zayar (Aung Myin); Kyaw Min Yu (Ko Jimmy); Min Ko Naing (Paw Oo Tun) and Pyone Cho (Mtay Win Aung) is arbitrary, being in contravention of articles 9, 10, 11, 19, 20, and 21 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and falling within categories II and III of the categories applicable to the consideration of cases submitted to the Working Group.
إن احتجاز السادة مين زيار (أونغ مين)؛ وكياو مين يو (كو جيمي)؛ ومين كو نانغ (باو أو تون)؛ وبيون شو (متاي وين أونغ) إجراء تعسفي، حيث يخالف المواد 9 و10 و11 و19 و20 و21 من الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان ويندرج تحت الفئتين الثانية والثالثة من الفئات المنطبقة على النظر في القضايا المقدَّمة إلى الفريق العامل.
