One speaker noted that the United Nations had to be both competent and competitive in the worldwide race for transmitting information, and delegations commended the efforts of the Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information and his staff to carry out their activities with increased efficiency and effectiveness.

45. At the end of the general debate, the Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information made a statement responding to some of the questions raised by delegations.
45 - وفي ختام المناقشة العامة، أدلى وكيل الأمين العام لشؤون الاتصال والإعلام ببيان رد فيه على بعض الأسئلة التي أثارتها الوفود.

Delegations had commended the efforts of the Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information and his staff to carry out their activities with increased efficiency and effectiveness and had expressed their appreciation for the many useful reports before the Committee, which had been circulated in a timely manner.
وأثنت الوفود على ما يبذله وكيل الأمين العام لشؤون الاتصال والإعلام وموظفوه من جهود لتنفيذ أنشطتهم بمزيد من الكفاءة والفعالية، وأعربت عن تقديرها للتقارير المفيدة الكثيرة المعروضة على اللجنة وتعميمها في الوقت المناسب.

41. Mr. Nkazengani (Gabon) said that the Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information had referred, in his statement, to the wishes expressed by Member States in previous years at various United Nations forums, particularly in the Committee on Information.
