Azerbaijan noted that Guatemala was still living with the consequences of internal armed conflict and commended the determination of the Government to heal the wounds, particularly through CICIG, on efforts to accelerate the democratization process, legal reforms on human trafficking and racial discrimination, and on the establishment of a special commission to search for those who disappeared during the conflict.

Azerbaijan noted that Cameroon's national report focused on recent legislative reforms which guaranteed, inter alia, the right to a fair trial, right to participate in elections, right to safety, life, and freedom of communication, and referred to problems related to fair trial, corruption and the realization of economic, social and cultural rights.

Azerbaijan noted that Nauru was not yet a party to key international human rights treaties, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and its Optional Protocol, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and the Convention against Torture, but welcomed the intention of Nauru to be bound by these instruments.
