International and multinational non-governmental entities would primarily interface with the Committee through the Office for Outer Space Affairs, which would ensure that the Committee and its Scientific and Technical Subcommittee and Legal Subcommittee were fully informed of the ongoing work of the initiatives of non-governmental entities.

14. The Working Group of the Whole agreed that, in order for the Committee and its Scientific and Technical Subcommittee to review the work of the action teams and to approve the proposals emanating from their work, it was important that all action teams continue to fulfil their reporting responsibilities.

The Committee and its Scientific and Technical Subcommittee had made major progress in the adoption of concrete measures to carry out the recommendations of UNISPACE III. The Committee had identified a mechanism for implementing those recommendations and, in the period 2001 to 2004, would devote a separate agenda item to the consideration of progress made in that area.
