He had also been informed by the Secretariat that the services required for the sessions of the Preparatory Committee and the Conference itself could only be provided by the Secretariat if the necessary funds were received in advance as reflected in that paragraph.

The Committee established a working group which, by drawing primarily on a draft and contribution prepared by Ms. Evatt, was able to finalize the Committee's contribution to the second session of the Preparatory Committee (MayJune 2001) and to the Conference itself by the end of the seventieth session.

22. 20. Pursuant to paragraph 14, the Secretary-General would provide information regarding the non-conference services required for the preparatory process and the Conference itself once the UN-Habitat Governing Council took a decision on the proposal of the Secretary-General of the Conference, to be submitted to the Governing Council at its twenty-fourth session.
