Cooperation between the United Nations and the Council of Europe started in 1951, just two years after the Council was founded, with the signing of an agreement that was updated 20 years later, in 1971, through the Arrangement on Cooperation between the secretariat of the Council of Europe and the United Nations.
لقد بدأ التعاون بين الأمم المتحدة ومجلس أوروبا في عام 1951، أي بعد عامين فقط من إنشاء المجلس، وذلك بالتوقيع على اتفاق، استكمل بعد 20 عاما، أي في عام 1971، بترتيب التعاون بين الأمانة العامة لمجلس أوروبا والأمم المتحدة.

The competent organs of the United Nations Office at Geneva and the Council of Europe in Strasbourg had been consulted on the matter.
