The Group of 77 and China welcomed the initial steps taken to support the development of Africa, in particular the implementation of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) and the creation of the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) and hoped that the latter would be provided with the resources it needed to fulfil its mandate.
