980. On 15 September 2006 the Committee held its annual day of general discussion entitled " To speak, participate and decide - the child's right to be heard " based on article 12 of the Convention.

The Committee recommends that the State party continue and strengthen efforts to implement article 12 of the Convention and promote respect for the views of the child in all matters that concern them in the family, school, other children's institutions and the community, taking into account the recommendations adopted by the Committee following its day of general discussion held on 15 September 2006 on the Right of the child to be heard.
