Also, in response to the letter from the Abkhaz de facto President, Vladislav Ardzinba (see S/2004/315, para. 7), the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations reaffirmed, in a letter on my behalf, the principles for the settlement of the conflict, as contained in the Security Council's resolutions, and urged the Abkhaz leadership to take advantage of the change of leadership in Georgia to engage in a dialogue on the core issues.
