Following the resignation of Mr. Mohammed Charfi (Tunisia) in 1996 and Ms. Mona Rishmawi (Jordan) in 2000, Mr. Ghanim Alnajjar (Kuwait) was appointed as independent expert in May 2001.
وعقب استقالة السيد محمد شارفي (تونس) في عام 1996 والسيدة منى رشماوي (الأردن) في عام 2000، عُين السيد غانم النجار (الكويت) خبيراً مستقلاً في أيار/مايو 2001.

Owing to the security situation resulting from the recent conflicts in Somalia, the independent expert, Mr. Ghanim Alnajjar, has been unable to undertake his annual mission to Somalia as planned and is therefore unable to submit a report to the fifth session of the Human Rights Council.
بالنظر إلى الوضع الأمني الناتج عن المنازعات الأخيرة في الصومال، لم يتمكن الخبير المستقل السيد غانم النجار من القيام ببعثته السنوية إلى الصومال كما هو مخطط، وعليه فلم يتمكن من تقديم تقرير إلى الدورة الخامسة لمجلس حقوق الإنسان.

Dr. Ghanim Alnajjar was appointed by the Secretary-General, effective 3 June 2001, as the independent expert on the situation of human rights in Somalia.
وعيَّن الأمين العام الدكتور غانم النجار اعتباراً من 3 حزيران/يونيه 2001، خبيراً مستقلاً معنياً بحالة حقوق الإنسان في الصومال.

23. At the request of the Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in Somalia, Ghanim Alnajjar, the " Somaliland " authorities unconditionally released Zamzam Ahmed Dualeh into his custody.
23 - وبناء على طلب من الخبير المستقل غانم النجار بشأن حالة حقوق الإنسان في الصومال، أفرجت سلطات " صوماليلاند " دون شروط عن زمزم أحمد دوالي وتركتها تحت حمايته.
