1. Under the terms of paragraphs A.10 and A.11 of Part A, " Enhancing the authority and role of the General Assembly " , of the annex to the draft resolution, the General Assembly would decide that:

The reform of the Security Council, and its enhanced legitimacy and effectiveness, should progress in parallel with, not to the detriment of, the increased authority and role of the General Assembly as the chief deliberative, policy-making and representative body of the United Nations.
وينبغي أن يمضي إصلاح مجلس الأمن وتعزيز مشروعيته وفعاليته، جنبا إلى جنب مع زيادة سلطة الجمعية العامة ودورها بوصفها الجهاز الرئيسي التداولي والتمثيلي المعني بوضع السياسة في الأمم المتحدة ودون مساس بتلك السلطة وذلك الدور.
