8. The present report is submitted in accordance with General Assembly resolution 51/98, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report on the recommendations made by the Special Representative on matters within his mandate, and on the role of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in assisting the Government and the people of Cambodia in the promotion and protection of human rights.

33. In its resolution 18/25, the Council requested the Secretary-General to report to the Council on the role and achievements of OHCHR in assisting the Government and the people of Cambodia in the promotion and protection of human rights.
