8. The Special Rapporteur would like to benefit from the expertise developed by his predecessors and explore with the authorities, national partners and the people of Myanmar positive ways to address the main human rights challenges in the country.
8- ويود المقرر الخاص أن يستفيد من الخبرة التي اكتسبها أسلافه وأن يستطلع مع السلطات، والشركاء الوطنيين وشعب ميانمار سبلاً إيجابية للتصدي للتحدّيات الرئيسية لحقوق الإنسان في البلد.

He would like to draw attention to the fact that forced labour is closely connected with problems which largely stem from inadequate resources at the disposal of the Government and the people of Myanmar for resolving the issues which they are facing, including continuing insurgencies in border areas, drug smuggling, and the slow pace of developing a democratic future for the country.

12. The Government and the people of Myanmar were committed to attaining unity, peace, stability and the rule of law while striving to ensure the country’s socio-economic development with unprecedented success.
١٢ - ومضى يقول إن حكومة وشعب ميانمار يبذلان الجهد لتحقيق الوحدة والسلام والاستقرار ودولة القانون وفي نفس الوقت يجتهدان لتأمين التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية للبلد وقد حققا في ذلك نجاحا لم يسبق له مثيل.

" (a) To continue to provide his good offices and to pursue his discussions on the situation of human rights, the transition to democracy and the national reconciliation process with the Government and the people of Myanmar, involving all relevant stakeholders, including democracy and human rights groups, and to offer technical assistance to the Government in this regard;
" (أ) أن يواصل مساعيه الحميدة وأن يتابع مناقشاته مع حكومة وشعب ميانمار بشأن حالة حقوق الإنسان والانتقال إلى الديمقراطية وعملية المصالحة الوطنية، بمشاركة جميع الجهات المعنية، بما فيها الجماعات المدافعة عن الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان، وأن يعرض على الحكومة مدها بالمساعدة التقنية في هذا الصدد؛

9 - وفي سبيل المضي قدماً، سيواصل الأمين العام تعاونه مع جميع الجهات المعنية لدعم جهود حكومة ميانمار وشعبها الرامية إلى تحقيق المصالحة الوطنية، والانتقال إلى الديمقراطية، وكفالة الاحترام الكامل لحقوق الإنسان، باعتبارها أسساً ضرورية لتحقيق الاستقرار والرخاء في الأجل الطويل.

Moving forward, the Secretary-General will continue to work with all concerned to support the efforts of the Government and the people of Myanmar towards national reconciliation, the transition to democracy and full respect for human rights, as the necessary foundation for long-term stability and prosperity.
8 - وفي سبيل المضي قُدما، سيواصل الأمين العام العمل مع كل المعنيين من أجل دعم ما تبذله حكومة ميانمار وشعبها من جهود ترمي إلى تحقيق المصالحة الوطنية والتحوّل الديمقراطي والاحترام الكامــل لحقــوق الإنسان باعتبارها الأساس اللازم للاستقرار والازدهار في الأجل الطويل.

At its forty-eighth session, in 1992, the Commission on Human Rights decided to nominate a special rapporteur to establish direct contacts with the Government and the people of Myanmar (Commission resolution 1992/58).
قررت لجنة حقوق الإنسان في دورتها الثامنة والأربعين، المعقودة في عام 1992، تعيين مقرر خاص لإقامة اتصالات مباشرة مع حكومة ميانمار وشعبها (قرار اللجنة 1992/58).

6. Consistent with the requests contained in operative paragraph 5 of draft resolution A/C.3/60/L.53, the efforts of the good offices of the Secretary-General would be continued in 2006, in pursuit of his discussions on the situation of human rights and the restoration of democracy with the Government and the people of Myanmar, as well as all relevant parties to the national reconciliation process.
