In the Asia Pacific region, such defenders were mainly targeted for exercising their right to freedom of opinion and expression (including through the Internet), promoting democracy, as well as for denouncing corruption and violations committed by the State, witnessing human rights violations, advocating women's rights and reporting human rights violations.

3- يحث جميع الأطراف على اتخاذ خطوات فورية لحماية الأطفال ووضع حد للاعتداءات والانتهاكات المرتكبة في حقهم، ويدعو بوجه خاص إلى وقف فوري لتجنيد الجنود الأطفال واستخدامهم بصورة غير مشروعة؛ ويرحب بجهود الحكومة الاتحادية الانتقالية الرامية إلى وضع اللمسات الأخيرة على خطة عملٍ مع الأمم المتحدة لإنهاء استخدام الجنود الأطفال، ويشدد على أهمية التوقيع على الخطة وتنفيذها فوراً؛

3. The Special Representative of the Secretary-General on the situation of human rights defenders, the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions and the Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers stated that concrete and concerted action was needed to stop endemic impunity for crimes and violations committed against human rights defenders.

(ii) To appoint a high-level contact point on child protection issues to follow up and coordinate actions on child protection, as well as liaise and fully cooperate with the task force on monitoring and reporting, in particular to ensure the development of effective prevention methods and response activities to the abuses and violations committed against children, in accordance with Security Council resolution 1612 (2005);

The National Centre for Human Rights, for its part, receives complaints from citizens in relation to human rights violations; monitors abuses and violations committed by the official bodies of the State against human rights and public freedoms; and endeavours to end such abuses and inform citizens of their rights under the Constitution.
