These projects fall into two categories: the first covers very technical projects which pursue specific goals, such as enhancing awareness and management of water resources, particularly in the arid countries of the Asian region; desertification monitoring; the use of specific methods and good agricultural practices to control erosion, such as in the loess plateau in China; protection of the plant cover; forestry and agroforestry.
