Mr. Yamada (Japan) welcomed the substantial progress achieved by the Ad Hoc Committee and agreed with its assessment that a generally acceptable instrument based on the draft articles adopted by the International Law Commission and on the discussions in the Sixth Committee should be elaborated in a timely manner.
