٦١- وفسح دستور نوفمبر لسنة ٦٩٩١ المجال ﻹعطاء الطابع المؤسساتي للغة البربرية )اﻷمازيغية(، وما فتئت بعض المشاكل مطروحة على المستوى اللغوي بسبب وجود أنواع مختلفة من اللهجات. ويجري حالياً إنجاز بعض اﻷعمال التي ترمي إلى وضع لغة وسيطة يُترجم إليها مجموع النصوص المتيسرة بالعربية والفرنسية.

According to a study often cited by the World Amazigh Congress (Ahmed Boukous, " Le Berbère en Tunisie " , in Etudes et documents berbères, No. 4, 1988), Berber speakers in Tunisia have limited interest in studying the Berber language. Apparently, this is because of the marginal status of the language, which is spoken by less than 1 per cent of the Tunisian population.
12- وإلى جانب هذا وحسب دراسة يستشهد بها مؤتمر الأمازيغ العالمي في معظم الأحيان (أحمد بوكوس: البربرية في تونس، مجلة الدراسات والوثائق البربرية، العدد 4، 1988)، فإن الدارسين للغة البربرية لا يبدون إلا اهتماماً قليلاً بدراسة البربرية في تونس؛ ويبدو أن السبب الرئيسي وراء ذلك هو الوضع الهامشي لهذه اللغة التي لا يتعدى عدد المتحدثين بها 1 في المائة من سكان تونس.
