The cooperation between the Organization of African Unity and the Economic Commission for Africa to make the African Economic Community operational and to mobilize resources for its activities is commendable and deserves the support and encouragement of the international community at large.

Let us turn the weapons of the cold war into a machinery for development, a mechanism for creating sacred vows on peace and security, so that any future draft resolution can be adopted by consensus, like the one on relations between the Organization of African Unity and the United Nations.
دعونا نحول أسلحة الحرب الباردة إلى آلات للتنمية، آلات لقطع عهود مقدسة بالسلم واﻷمن، حتى يمكن اعتماد أي مشروع قرار في المستقبل بتوافق اﻵراء، مثل القرار المتعلق بالعلاقات بين منظمة الوحدة الافريقية واﻷمم المتحدة.

5. Affirms the need to strengthen collaboration between the Organization of African Unity, the African Development Bank and the Economic Commission for Africa in undertaking actions to promote the long-term socio-economic development of the region;
