The High Commissioner met with the First Prime Minister, Samdech Krom Preah Norodom Ranariddh, and discussed problems related to the establishment of the Supreme Council of Magistracy and the Constitutional Council, the need to adopt a law on landmines, and the possible ratification by Cambodia of the Optional Protocols to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

6. The General Assembly requested the Special Representative, in collaboration with the office in Cambodia of the Centre for Human Rights, to continue his evaluation of the extent to which the recommendations made by the Special Representative in his report, and those contained in his previous reports, were followed up and implemented, and strongly encouraged the Government of Cambodia to continue to cooperate with the Special Representative.
٦- وطلبت الجمعية العامة إلى الممثل الخاص أن يواصل، بالتعاون مع مكتب مركز حقوق اﻹنسان في كمبوديا، تقييمه لمدى متابعة وتنفيذ التوصيات التي قدمها الممثل الخاص في تقريره والتوصيات الواردة في تقاريره السابقة، وشجعت بشدة حكومة كمبوديا على مواصلة التعاون مع الممثل الخاص.

Notes with appreciation the use by the Secretary-General of the United Nations Trust Fund for a Human Rights Education Programme in Cambodia to finance the programme of activities for the office in Cambodia of the Centre for Human Rights as defined in resolutions of the General Assembly and the Commission on Human Rights;
١٩ - تلاحظ مع التقدير استعمال اﻷمين العام صندوق اﻷمم المتحدة الاستئماني لبرنامج التعليم في ميدان حقوق اﻹنسان في كمبوديا لتمويل أنشطة مكتب مركز حقوق اﻹنسان في كمبوديا على النحو المحدد في قرارات الجمعية العامة ولجنة حقوق اﻹنسان؛

Requests the Secretary-General, through his Special Representative for human rights in Cambodia, in collaboration with the Centre for Human Rights of the Secretariat, to assist the Government of Cambodia in ensuring the protection of the human rights of all people in Cambodia and to ensure adequate resources, from within existing resources, for the enhanced functioning of the operational presence in Cambodia of the Centre;

4. Requests the Government of Cambodia and the Office of the High Commissioner to sign without further delay the memorandum of understanding for the extension of the agreement for the implementation of the mandate of the office in Cambodia of the High Commissioner after March 2000, notes with regret the delays thus far encountered in the process, and encourages the Government of Cambodia to continue to cooperate with the office;
4- تطلب إلى حكومة كمبوديا والمفوضية السامية التوقيع دونما تأخير على مذكرة التفاهم من أجل تمديد اتفاق تنفيذ ولاية مكتب المفوضية السامية في كمبوديا إلى ما بعد آذار/مارس 2000، وتلاحظ مع الأسف ما حدث من تأخير في هذه العملية إلى الآن، وتشجع حكومة كمبوديا على مواصلة تعاونها مع المكتب؛

It also requested the Government of Cambodia and the office in Cambodia of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to exchange the memorandum of understanding for the extension of the mandate of the office after March 2000, and encouraged the Government of Cambodia to continue to cooperate with the office.
وطلبت كذلك إلى الحكومة الكمبودية ومكتب مفوضية الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان في كمبوديا أن يتبادلا مذكرة التفاهم على تمديد ولاية المكتب حتى آذار/مارس 2000، وشجعت حكومة كمبوديا على مواصلة تعاونها مع المكتب.
