In this context I wish to refer to the proposals of President Cheddi Jagan on a new global humanitarian order, in response to General Assembly resolution 47/106 of 16 December 1992.

My predecessor, the late President Cheddi Jagan, challenged the international community on many occasions to strive for a new global human order, a development paradigm which would seek simultaneously to achieve optimal economic growth, social equity, poverty reduction and protection of the environment: a development model rooted in a partnership that seeks a better balance within and among States.

172. Noteworthy is Guyana's proposal for a New Global Human Order, presented by former President Dr. Cheddi Jagan at the World Summit for Social Development, Copenhagen, 1995, which Guyana continues to promote at the United Nations and other international levels.
171- وتجدر الإشارة إلى مقترح غيانا المتعلق بإنشاء نظام إنساني عالمي جديد والمقدم من الرئيس السابق الدكتور تشيدي جاغان في القمة العالمية للتنمية الاجتماعية المعقودة في كوبنهاغن في عام 1995، وهو مقترح ما فتئت غيانا تروجه في الأمم المتحدة وعلى مستويات دولية أخرى.

These concerns underlie much of the policy considerations of Guyana's founding father, His Excellency Dr. Cheddi Jagan's (now deceased) vision for Guyana's fight against poverty, which he put forward during the World Summit for Social Development, held in Copenhagen from 6 to 12 March 1995, in a proposal entitled " A New Global Human Order " .

President Cheddi Jagan played a dominant role in Guyana's life and politics for more than 45 years.

Mr. Cheddi Jagan's career as a political leader lasted half a century. He led his country to independence and served as President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana from October 1992 until his untimely demise.
إن المسار الوظيفي للسيد تشدي جاغان بوصفه قائدا سياسيا دام نصف قرن من الزمان فقد قاد بلده إلى الاستقلال وكان رئيسا لجمهورية غيانا التعاونية من تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٢ حتى موته المفاجئ.
