Other delegations were of the view that that approach would require an amendment to the Convention, which currently provided that it was for the State party that nominated a member to the Commission to defray the expenses of that member while performing Commission duties.

75. In this connection, it is recalled that article 2, paragraph 5, of annex II to the Convention establishes that " the State Party which submitted the nomination of a member of the Commission shall defray the expenses of that member while in performance of Commission duties " .
75 - وفي هذا الصدد، تجدر الإشارة إلى أن الفقرة 5 من المادة 2 من المرفق الثاني للاتفاقية تنص على أن " تتحمل الدولة الطرف التي تقدمت بترشيح عضو مصروفات ذلك العضو أثناء قيامه بأداء مهام اللجنة " .

58. The Commission also decided to reiterate to the Meeting of States Parties its proposal that the members of the Commission receive emoluments and expenses while performing Commission duties concerning the consideration of submissions made by coastal States on the outer limits of the continental shelf under article 76, and that such emoluments and expenses be defrayed through the regular budget of the United Nations.
58 - وقررت اللجنة أيضا أن تؤكد لاجتماع الدول الأطراف من جديد اقتراحها بأن يحصل أعضاء اللجنة على مكافآت ومصروفات أثناء أدائهم لواجبات مهام اللجنة المتعلقة بالنظر في الطلبات المقدمة من الدول الساحلية بشأن الحدود الخارجية للجرف القاري بموجب المادة 76، على أن تغطي الميزانية العادية للأمم المتحدة تلك المكافآت والمصروفات.
