Member States, in General Assembly resolution 35/210, decided to hold competitive examinations for the recruitment of junior professional staff, and in its annex determined the guidelines for organizing such examinations:

Recourse to competitive examinations for the recruitment of junior professional staff was made compulsory in 1980 by paragraph 10 of the annex to General Assembly resolution 35/210, which decided that, " at the P-l and P-2 levels, recruitment shall be made as a rule through competitive examinations " .
وأصبح اللجوء إلى الامتحانات التنافسية لتعيين موظفين فنيين مبتدئين إجبارياً في عام 198٠ بموجب الفقرة 1٠ من المرفق بقرار الجمعية العامة 35/21٠ التي جاء فيها أنه " يجري التوظيف عادة في المرتبتين ف-1 وف-2 عن طريق الامتحانات التنافسية " .
