The Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic Area, concluded under the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals and whose headquarters is in Monaco, focuses its efforts on such species throughout the basin of the Black Sea, the Mediterranean and the Contiguous Atlantic area.

Also, the Commission for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic is participating in work under the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic Area to develop appropriate tools to assess the impact of anthropogenic noise on cetaceans and to further elaborate measures to mitigate such impacts.
