Mr. Eldeeb (Egypt), on behalf of his delegation, reaffirmed the principle of the universality and indivisibility of human rights and declared that respect for collective rights, foremost among which were the right to self-determination and the right to development, was indissolubly linked to respect for the rights of the individual.

Mr. Eldeeb (Egypt) welcomed the recent signature by Palestine and Israel of the Interim Agreement as a step towards full enjoyment by the Palestinians of all their legitimate rights, and hoped for similar developments with regard to Syria and Lebanon.

Ms. Eldeeb (Egypt), speaking on behalf of the African Group, said that the Group recognized the important role of UNIDO in the promotion and support of best available industrial energy efficiency policies, practices and technologies and its advisory role in the formulation of national energy policies.
27- السيدة الديب (مصر): تكلَّمت بالنيابة عن المجموعة الأفريقية، فقالت إنَّ المجموعة ترحِّب بالدور الهام الذي تضطلع به اليونيدو في تعزيز ودعم أفضل السياسات والممارسات والتكنولوجيات المتاحة في مجال كفاءة استخدام الطاقة في الصناعة، وترحِّب بدورها الاستشاري في صياغة وتنفيذ سياسات وطنية في مجال الطاقة.

Mr. Eldeeb (Egypt) said that the World Conference on Human Rights had reaffirmed the United Nations commitment to the principles set forth in the Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and had stressed, in that context, the need to accord priority to the realization and strengthening of women's rights, calling for full incorporation of women into the United Nations system.
