In this context it should also be mentioned that Italy is the only industrialized Country with relevant immigration flows that has ratified ILO Convention No. 143 on Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers.

ILO Convention No. 143 of 1975 concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers provides that a migrant who has resided legally in the territory for the purpose of employment shall not be regarded as in an irregular situation by the mere fact of the loss of his employment.

The Committee notes that the State party has still not acceded to International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention No. 97 (1949) concerning Migration for Employment, or to Convention No. 143 (1975), concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers.

This provision echoes article 9, paragraph 1, of ILO Convention No. 143 (1975) concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers (Supplementary Provisions).

2. CMW invited Bolivia to accede to ILO Conventions No. 97 (1949) concerning Migration for Employment and No. 143 (1975) concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers.

13. The Committee notes that the State party has still not ratified the International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention concerning Migration for Employment (Revised 1949) (No. 97) or the ILO Convention concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers (No. 143).

It further recommends that the State party ratify the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families and ILO Convention No. 143 (1975) concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers.

The Committee notes that the State party has not yet become a party to ILO Conventions No. 97 (revised, 1949) concerning migration for employment, No. 143 (1975) concerning migrations in abusive conditions and the promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of migrant workers and No. 189 (2011) concerning decent work for domestic workers.

3. CESCR urged Mauritius to ratify ILO Convention No. 143 concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers.

Noting the various measures taken by the Government to promote Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of women in the labour market, the Committee asked the Government to provide information on their impact on reducing the wage gap between men and women.
