As a result, Government Order No. 525-1999, of 19 July 1999, established the Office for the Defence of Indigenous Women's Rights, under the Presidential Commission for Coordinating Executive Policy in the field of Human Rights (COPREDEH), with administrative management, technical and financial responsibilities to meet the specific needs of indigenous women in terms of vulnerability, helplessness and discrimination.
