5. Although the State party has taken steps to address past human rights violations, such as the public recognition of responsibility by the President and steps to honour the memory of the murdered Monsignor Óscar Romero, the Committee expresses concern that these steps may not be enough to put an end to impunity for such violations, which include, according to the Truth Commission, thousands of deaths and enforced disappearances.
5- ورغم أن الدولة الطرف اتخذت تدابير فيما يتصل بانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان المرتكَبة فيما مضى، مثل الاعتراف العام بالمسؤولية من جانب رئيس الجمهورية والتدابير المُتخذة إكراماً لذكرى وفاة الأسقف أوسكار روميرو في عملية اغتيال، تُعرب اللجنة عن قلقها لأن هذه التدابير قد لا تكون كافية لوضع حد للإفلات من العقاب على الانتهاكات المذكورة التي تفيد لجنة الحقيقة بأنها أسفرت عن آلاف الضحايا وحالات الاختفاء القسري.

It also disregards the fact that the determination of the Council was premised on the conviction that a threat to international peace and security exists not only for the duration of the armed conflict, but as long as serious violations of international humanitarian law continue to occur and those responsible for such violations are not brought to trial.
