The Special Rapporteur continues to maintain that he is not in a position to examine such cases and recalls that Reynaldo Galindo Pohl, a former Special Representative of the Commission on Human Rights on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, reviewed the matter and concluded that the allegations required detailed investigation and information from the Government in conformity with international practice.

The Secretary-General has the honour to transmit to the members of the General Assembly the interim report prepared by Mr. Reynaldo Galindo Pohl (El Salvador), Special Representative of the Commission on Human Rights on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in accordance with paragraph 14 of Commission on Human Rights resolution 1994/73 of 9 March 1994 and Economic and Social Council decision 1994/263 of 22 July 1994.

Since Mr. Galindo Pohl's final report to the Commission on Human Rights earlier this year (E/CN.4/1995/55), a significant number of communications have been received by the Centre for Human Rights for the attention of the Special Representative. They come from the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran (see annexes) and from non-governmental organizations, groups and individuals within and outside the Islamic Republic.
٨ - ومنذ التقرير الختامي للسيد غاليندو بول إلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان في وقت سابق من هذا العام )E/CN.4/1995/55(، تلقى مركز حقوق اﻹنسان عددا كبيرا من البلاغات ﻹحالتها إلى المقرر الخاص، وردت من حكومة جمهورية إيران اﻹسلامية )انظر المرفقات( ومن منظمات غير حكومية وجماعات وأفراد داخل الجمهورية اﻹسلامية وخارجها، تعكس جوانب قلق هامة وتحتاج إلى فحص دقيق.
