1. Mr. Gansukh (Mongolia) said that the Government of Mongolia attached particular importance to the promotion and protection of the rights of children because 37 per cent of the country's inhabitants were under 15, and nearly half of them were under 18.

Mr. Gansukh (Mongolia) said that the international community must maintain the momentum of the progress achieved since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, reflecting on what action needed to be taken to protect human rights, strengthen the rule of law and promote democracy nationally and internationally.

52. Mr. Gansukh (Mongolia) said that the progress achieved in the promotion and protection of human rights, one of the greatest achievements of the past century, should serve as a basis for reflection on the future work of the United Nations.
