By this resolution, the General Assembly, via the Secretary-General, requested, inter alia, of international organizations, as well as the competent organs of the United Nations, their views on the development of good-neighbourly relations in the Balkan region and on the measures and preventive activities aimed at creation of a stable zone of peace and cooperation in the Balkans by the year 2000.

64. The implementation of the objectives set forth in the resolution 48/84 B requires the preparation of a separate programme of measures and activities for the development of good-neighbourly relations in the region aimed at creation of a stable zone of peace and cooperation by the year 2000.
٤٦ - يتطلب تحقيق اﻷهداف المحددة في القرار ٤٨/٨٤ باء إعداد برنامج منفصل يشتمل على تدابير وأنشطة لتنمية علاقات حسن الجوار في المنطقة، يهدف الى إنشاء منطقة سلم وتعاون مستقرة بحلول عام ٢٠٠٠.

There is hope that this activity of the General Assembly, based on its resolution 48/84 B, in which the Secretary-General could play an important role, will be of essential help to the development of good-neighbourly relations in the region.
ومن المؤمل أن هذا النشاط الذي تضطلع به الجمعية العامة على أساس قرارها ٤٨/٨٤ باء والذي يمكن أن يؤدي اﻷمين العام دورا هاما فيه سيشكل مساعدة ذات أهمية أساسية في تنمية علاقات حسن الجوار في المنطقة.
