We reaffirm and reiterate the long-standing principled positions of the Movement on disarmament and international security enshrined in the decisions adopted by the XIII Conference of Heads of State or Government of the Non-Aligned Countries in Kuala Lumpur as well as other previous Ministerial Conferences and Summits of the Movement.

Finally, the Heads of State or Government of the Non-Aligned Countries very appropriately reiterated the position taken by the Movement at its fifth, sixth and tenth summits on the question of the right of veto, which is that they support a reduction in the field of application of the veto, as a step towards its abolition, and ended by mentioning the General Conference to review the United Nations Charter foreseen in Article 109 of the Charter.

The South Summit, held in Havana from 10 to 14 April 2000, and the 13th Conference of Heads of States or Government of the Non-Aligned Countries, held in Kuala Lumpur from 20 to 25 February 2003, called for the elimination and rejection of coercive economic and extraterritorial implementation of such laws against developing countries and condemned the application of such measures.

The Group of Non-Aligned States parties to the Treaty on the NonProliferation of Nuclear Weapons recalls that the fourteenth Conference of Heads of State or Government of the Non-Aligned Countries reiterated that the improvement in the existing nuclear weapons and the development of new types of nuclear weapons as envisaged in the United States Nuclear Posture Review contravene the security assurances provided by the nuclear-weapon States.
