As you will recall, at its second and third meetings held on 14 September and 2 October, the Committee elected Ms. Petra Schneebauer of Austria, Mr. Alberto Guani of Uruguay and Mr. Abdelkader Mesdoua of Algeria as Vice-Chairmen.
لعلكم تتذكرون أن اللجنة، في جلستيها الثانية والثالثة المعقودتين في 14 أيلول/سبتمبر و 2 تشرين الأول/ أكتوبر، انتخبت السيدة بيترا سينباور ممثلة النمسا، والسيد ألبيرتو غواني ممثل أوروغواي والسيد عبد القادر مسدوة ممثل الجزائر نوابا للرئيس.

Mr. Guani (Uruguay) said that the overwhelming majority of Member States which had taken part in the general debate in the Committee in recent years had recognized the usefulness of visiting missions in identifying a variety of problems faced by different peoples and Territories.
١٦ - السيد غواني )أوروغواي(: قال إن الغالبية العظمى من الدول اﻷعضاء، التي شاركت في المناقشات العامة للجنة في العام الماضي، أدركت فائدة إيفاد بعثات من أجل الكشف عن مختلف مشاكل الشعوب واﻷقاليم.

Mr. Guani (Uruguay) said that his delegation fully shared the view of the Assistant Secretary-General for Public Information that the dissemination of information on questions relating to international development continued to be a priority.

32. Mr. Guani (Uruguay) said that his country, which had demonstrated its firm commitment to the self-determination of peoples, had noted with concern the slowing down of the work of the decolonization unit.
٣٢ - السيد غواني )أوروغواي(: قال إن بلاده التي أظهرت عمليا التزامها القوي بكفالة حق تقرير المصير للشعوب، تلاحظ مع القلق تباطؤ خطى العمل في وحدة إنهاء الاستعمار.

The President further informed the Assembly that, for the duration of the twenty-sixth special session, in the absence of the Chairman of the First Committee, its Vice-Chairman, Mr. Alberto Guani (Uruguay), would be Acting Chairman of that Committee.
وأبلغ الرئيس الجمعية كذلك بأنه طوال فترة انعقاد الدورة الاستثنائية السادسة والعشرين، وفي غياب رئيس اللجنة الأولى، سيتولى نائب رئيسها، السيد ألبرتو غواني (أوروغواي) رئاسة تلك اللجنة بالإنابة.

Mr. Guani (Uruguay) said that his delegation supported the objectives set out in the Secretary-General’s timely call for a reorientation of the United Nations information and communications activities, particularly the need to publicize its work more effectively and to redirect the policies and activities of the Department of Public Information.
٦٢ - السيد غواني )أوروغواي(: قال إن وفده يؤيد اﻷهداف المعروضة في دعوة اﻷمين العام الحسنة التوقيت ﻹعادة توجيه أنشطة اﻹعلام والاتصالات لﻷمم المتحدة، وخصوصا منها ضرورة التعريف بعملها بطريقة أكثر فعالية، وإعادة توجيه سياسات إدارة شـــؤون اﻹعـــلام وأنشطتها.
