By resolution 1998/58, entitled “Situation of human rights in Haiti”, the Commission on Human Rights, inter alia, invited its independent expert, Mr. Adama Dieng, to report to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session and to the Commission on Human Rights at its fifty-fifth session on developments in the human rights situation in Haiti.

30. The report of the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, submitted to the Commission on Human Rights, at its fifty-fifth session,37 focused on violence against women in the family, and included information supplied by Member States.

The Commission on Human Rights at its fifty-fifth session, held a special dialogue on the rights of the child which focused on the marginalization and exclusion of children and sought to go beyond the Commission’s own agenda and examine issues which had an impact on the rights of children but were dealt with in other forums.
