2. The implementation of provisions of the Charter related to assistance to third States affected by the application of sanctions was one of the most important matters under consideration by the Special Committee.

It therefore welcomed the report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of provisions of the Charter related to assistance to third States affected by the application of sanctions (A/53/312), which outlined a number of important developments in that area.

Lastly, since the subgroup on the question of United Nations-imposed sanctions seemed to have left the question of the implementation of provisions of the Charter related to assistance to third States affected by the application of sanctions to the Special Committee, Malawi urged the latter to consider the issue as a matter of priority.

15. All delegations welcomed the report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of provisions of the Charter related to assistance to third States affected by the application of sanctions (A/53/312).
