ILO Convention No. 143 of 1975 concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers provides that a migrant who has resided legally in the territory for the purpose of employment shall not be regarded as in an irregular situation by the mere fact of the loss of his employment.

The Committee notes that the State party has still not ratified the International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention concerning Migration for Employment (Revised 1949) (No. 97) or the ILO Convention concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers (No. 143).

It further recommends that the State party ratify the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families and ILO Convention No. 143 (1975) concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers.

The Committee notes that the State party has not yet become a party to ILO Conventions No. 97 (revised, 1949) concerning migration for employment, No. 143 (1975) concerning migrations in Abusive Conditions and the promotion of equality of opportunity and treatment of migrant workers and No. 189 (2011) concerning decent work for domestic workers.

In addition, ILO has adopted two international conventions on the rights of migrant workers, namely, the Convention concerning Migration for Employment (Revised), 1949 (No. 97), and the Convention concerning Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and Treatment of Migrant Workers, 1975 (No. 143), both of which are in force.
