1. The Working Group on Minorities at its ninth and tenth sessions invited the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to prepare pamphlets for inclusion in the United Nations Guide for Minorities.

A presentation was made by Mr. Orest Nowosad and Ms. Yunseon Heo of the National Human Rights Institution Team of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, including on the preparation of a pamphlet on national institutions for inclusion in the United Nations Guide for Minorities.

At its previous session, the Sub-Commission, in resolution 2002/16, recommended that OHCHR be requested to ask for additional pamphlets, for inclusion in the United Nations Guide for Minorities, in particular on the work of national institutions regarding the promotion and protection of the rights of persons belonging to minorities.
10- وفي دورتها السابقة، أوصت اللجنة الفرعية في قرارها 2002/16 بتكليف مفوضية حقوق الإنسان بطلب إعداد نشرات إضافية لإدراجها في دليل الأمم المتحدة عن الأقليات، ولا سيما عن عمل المؤسسات الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان فيما يتصل بتعزيز وحماية حقوق الأشخاص المنتمين لأقليات.

8. Concerning the importance of strengthening national human rights systems, a new pamphlet for inclusion in the United Nations Guide for Minorities has been prepared by OHCHR (which provides technical assistance on setting up and supporting such institutions) on the role of national human rights institutions (NHRIs) in the promotion and protection of the rights of persons belonging to minorities.

Cooperation with different branches of OHCHR dealing with minority issues has continued since 2005 with the publishing of the pamphlet on the work of NHRIs and minority issues, as requested by the Working Group on Minorities, for inclusion in the United Nations Guide for Minorities (see E/CN.4/Sub.2/AC.5/2005/3).
