3. It was noted that the principles embodied in the United Nations treaties on outer space would provide a framework within which the space protocol should be developed.

That delegation believed that the Subcommittee, as well as intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, could study various definitions in the United Nations treaties that lacked clarity, as well as discrepancies between provisions of international space law and some national legislation.

The Working Group noted with satisfaction the statements made by a number of delegations about the positive impact of the letter from the Secretary-General encouraging participation in the outer space treaties, which, in their view, had stimulated a thorough consideration of participation in the United Nations treaties on outer space.
9- ولاحظ الفريق العامل بارتياح البيانات التي ألقاها عدد من الوفود بشأن الأثر الإيجابي لرسالة الأمين العام التي شجع فيها على الانضمام إلى معاهدات الفضاء الخارجي والتي حفزت، حسب رأي تلك الوفود، على القيام بدراسة مستفيضة لمسألة الاشتراك في معاهدات الأمم المتحدة المتعلقة بالفضاء الخارجي.

9- ومن المرجَّح أن تضطلع قواعد الفضاء الخارجي بدور بنَّاء في تفعيل وإثراء الإجراءات القائمة المنصوص عليها في معاهدات الأمم المتحدة المتعلقة بالفضاء الخارجي.

Some delegations expressed the view that the Convention and the future protocol would neither undermine nor compromise existing principles of international space law and that, in case of conflict, the norms of public international law contained in the United Nations treaties on outer space would prevail.
184- ورأت بعض الوفود أن الاتفاقية والبروتوكول المقبل لن يضعفا ولن يمسا بالمبادئ القائمة لقانون الفضاء الدولي وأن المعايير التي ستسري في حالة التنازع هي معايير القانون الدولي العام الواردة في معاهدات الأمم المتحدة بشأن الفضاء الخارجي.

(e) The legal value of a declaration of acceptance of the rights and obligations provided for in the United Nations treaties on outer space by an international intergovernmental operational organization following its privatization;
