101. The Group encouraged the Ivorian Minister for Industry and Mines to approach OECD, and in particular the Forum of the Group of Experts on the Democratic Republic of the Congo of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and the United Nations, on the issue of responsible mineral supply chains, in accordance with paragraph 25 of resolution 2101 (2013).

In the area of natural resources, the Group is working closely with the Ministry of Industry and Mines and the Permanent Secretariat of the Kimberley Process in Côte d'Ivoire and welcomes the positive progress obtained so far in the diamond sector.

129. The Group has asked the Minister of Industry and Mines whether Côte d'Ivoire has envisaged the possibility of reinforcing regional cooperation on diamond production and trade with its neighbouring countries and in the framework of the Mano River Union.

214. The Group has also asked the Ministry of Industry and Mines to clarify how it intends to ensure the necessary continuous training and update the skills of the rough diamond evaluators, as well as maintain and update the required machinery.

In a meeting with the Minister of Industry and Mines on 2 September 2013, the Group confirmed that illegal artisanal mining continued to be a serious problem for the authorities, mainly in terms of security and the loss of tax revenues.
وفي اجتماع عقد مع وزير الصناعة والمناجم() في 2 أيلول/سبتمبر 2013، تأكد للفريق أن أنشطة هذا التعدين الحرفي غير القانونية لا تزال تمثل مشكلة خطيرة تواجه السلطات، وبخاصة من حيث الأمن والفاقد في عائدات الضرائب.

125. The Group queried the Ministry of Industry and Mines regarding the proposals made by Côte d'Ivoire in 2008 to the World Bank and other donors to put in place a system to stock and hold rough diamonds inside the country until the lifting of the embargo, which the Group cited in its 2009 final report (S/2009/521, paras. 277 and 278).

347. The Group recommends that the Ivorian secretariat of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative should pursue working on the terms of reference for the reconciliator and validator of the Initiative report in order to include reconciled data from the diamonds sector (SODEMI and Ministry of Industry and Mines) as an annex to the annual Initiative report.
347 - ويوصي الفريق بأن تواصل أمانة مبادرة الشفافية في مجال الصناعات الاستخراجية في كوت ديفوار العمل بشأن تحديد اختصاصات جهتي التصديق على تقرير المبادرة ومطابقة البيانات الواردة فيه، حتى يتم إدراج بيانات متطابقة من قطاع الماس (شركة تنمية التعدين ووزارة الصناعة والمناجم) في مرفق لتقرير المبادرة السنوي.

The plan has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Mines (see annexes 25 and 26).

In this context, the Group welcomes the emphasis that the Ministry of Industry and Mines places on background checks and due diligence verifications for individuals and companies that have applied for permits to operate diamond-buying houses, as recommended by the Group in its previous report.
