46. The Secretary-General has acknowledged such inherent risks (see A/53/854/Add.1), indicating however that duplication was minimized by the promulgation of the " lead-department " policy, an opinion that most senior managers of both Departments reiterated during the OIOS audit.

85. The Secretary-General should ensure that his strategy of forming interdepartmental task forces as promulgated in the lead-department policy is being implemented effectively, thereby improving cooperation and coordination between the Departments of Political Affairs and Peacekeeping Operations (AP2006/560/01/19).
