With regard to the pattern of conferences, the Group looked forward to the results of the review that had been conducted by the Office of Internal Oversight Services into the circumstances that had led to insufficient conference services being put at the disposal of the Human Rights Council in 2009.

Notes with concern the circumstances that led to insufficient conference services for the Human Rights Council in 2009, and requests the Secretary-General to ensure that the Council, as well as other entities served by the Conference Services Division at the United Nations Office at Geneva, are provided with all necessary conference services to support their activities;

It is anticipated that the report of the Office of Internal Oversight Services, pursuant to General Assembly resolution 63/284, on a review of the circumstances that had led to insufficient conference services having been put at the disposal of the Human Rights Council in 2009, will shed light on the sufficiency of the resources provided to the Conference Services Division of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
34 - ويُتوقع للتقرير المقدم من مكتب خدمات الرقابة الداخلية، وفقا لقرار الجمعية العامة 63/284، بشأن استعراض الظروف التي أدت إلى عدم كفاية خدمات المؤتمرات المتاحة لمجلس حقوق الإنسان في عام 2009، أن يلقي الضوء على كفاية الموارد المتاحة لشعبة خدمات المؤتمرات التابعة لمكتب الأمم المتحدة في جنيف.

The Advisory Committee further recalls that the General Assembly, in its resolution 63/284, requested the Secretary-General to entrust OIOS with a review of the circumstances that led to insufficient conference services being put at the disposal of the Human Rights Council in 2009, which should shed light on the sufficiency of the resources provided.

The Committee expects that the review (of the circumstances that led to insufficient conference services being put at the disposal of the Human Rights Council in 2009) will be completed expeditiously and the recommendations thereon submitted, as requested, to the Assembly for action (para. I.88).

I.88 In this regard, the Advisory Committee recalls that, in its resolution 63/284, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to entrust OIOS with a review of the circumstances that led to insufficient conference services being put at the disposal of the Human Rights Council in 2009 and to present its recommendations to the Assembly at the main part of its sixty-fourth session in order to avoid similar situations.

1. Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 63/284, the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) conducted an audit of conference services provided to the Human Rights Council. The main objective of the audit was to determine the circumstances that led to insufficient conference services being provided by the Division of Conference Management to the Human Rights Council in 2009, specifically in the areas of document processing and translation.
