Many Libyan children have also lost their lives and many others continue to be injured by the explosion of landmines planted during the Second World War by the colonial Powers.

56- أما عن مدى تمتع أطفال الليبيات المتزوجات من غير الليبيين بالحقوق التي يتمتع بها غيرهم من الأطفال الليبيين فإنه يوجد حالياً مشروع قانون بخصوص الجنسية والذي بمقتضاه يتمتع أبناء الليبيات المتزوجات من أجانب بكافة الحقوق والمزايا التي يتمتع بها غيرهم من الأطفال الليبيين.

28. Mr. Kafou (Libya) said that under the Qadhafi regime, many Libyan children had not had access to education or health care, especially in rural or remote areas, and that during the revolution children had been coerced or enticed into armed combat and even used as human shields.
28 - السيد كافو (ليبيا): قال إن العديد من الأطفال الليبيين لم يتمكنوا أثناء فترة نظام القذافي من الحصول على التعليم أو الرعاية الصحية، ولا سيما في المناطق الريفية أو النائية، وإن الأطفال أثناء الثورة إما أكرهوا أو حرضوا على الانخراط في القتال المسلح، بل واستخدموا كدروع بشرية.

In my capacity as Chair of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, I have the honour to enclose herewith the Declaration by the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, adopted on 29 January 2007, regarding the case of the Libyan children affected by HIV virus (see annex).

On 18 October 2003, she was approached by an individual who shouted at her " Why should I let you stay in this office? You should be fired, with your son injecting Libyan children with HIV/AIDS! "
وفي 18 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2003، جاءها أحد الأشخاص وصرخ في وجهها قائلاً " لماذا ينبغي أن أُبقيك في هذا المكتب؟ ينبغي طردك مع ابنك الذي يحقن الأطفال الليبيين بفيروس نقص المناعة البشرية/الإيدز " فأقفلت على نفسها داخل مكتبها لكن ذلك الشخص انتظرها خارج المكتب وعندما فتحت باب المكتب بصق عليها مستخدماً ألفاظاً نابية ومطلقاً التهديدات.

This means that, from a very early age, Libyan children learn about the identity of others, and how to show them respect, and interact with them in a spirit of tolerance, understanding and respect.
وهذا ما يجعل الطفل الليبي وهو صغير جداً يعرف هوية الآخرين ويحترمها ويتفاعل معها بتسامح وتفاهم واحترام.

As we highlight our achievements in the area of child survival, development and protection, this Assembly should be aware of the fact that Libyan children have suffered terribly, hundreds of them dying in road accidents, because of the embargo on air travel imposed on our country as a part of the unjust sanctions forced upon us for over seven years.
ونحن، إذ نبرز هذا أمام هذا المحفل من أجل تعزيز بقاء الطفل ونمائه وحمايته، فلا بد لهذه الجمعية من أن تعلم أن الطفل الليبي تعرض لعدد من المحن، وهي وفاة المئات من الأطفال نتيجة الحوادث على الطرق البرية بعد تطبيق حظر الطيران على بلادنا ضمن العقوبات الظالمة التي فرضت علينا واستمرت لمدة سبع سنوات.

Whether Libyan children are raised in the family, school and local environments according to traditional or modern methods of socialization, they are all taught to love others and to respect their cultures and differences.
278- والطفل الليبي قد رُبي في الأسرة والمدرسة والبيئة المحلية، وسواء بأساليب التربية الاجتماعية التقليدية أو التربية الحديثة، على حب الآخرين واحترام ثقافاتهم واختلافاتهم عنه.
