In this regard, in addition to the announcement of many States of increased financial commitments to clearance, awareness and assistance efforts, the following specific initiatives and ideas were discussed to foster international technical cooperation and to make further progress to improve and share mine-clearance technology, equipment and expertise; to improve mine-awareness efforts and to enhance victim assistance programmes.
