Within the framework of the League's monitoring of the containment of the situation between the Republic of the Sudan and the Republic of Chad, the League welcomed the efforts of Brother Leader Muammar al-Qadhafi to convene an African mini-conference in Tripoli to end the crisis and a letter of thanks was sent to the Brother Leader for his efforts.
وفي إطار متابعة الجامعة العربية لاحتواء الوضع بين جمهورية السودان وجمهورية تشاد، رحبت الجامعة العربية بجهود الأخ القائد معمر القذافي لعقد قمة أفريقية مصغرة في طرابلس لإنهاء تلك الأزمة، حيث بعثت برسالة شكر وتقدير إلى الأخ القائد للجهود التي بذلها لعقد القمة الأفريقية المصغرة في طرابلس في 8/2/2006 والتي أسفرت عن توقيع إعلان طرابلس.

The Beirut Summit adopted resolution 223 (28 March 2002) mandating the concerned Ministerial Committee to continue studying the ideas of Brother Leader Muammar al-Qadhafi and to complete its work quickly for the purpose of presenting its conclusions to an extraordinary Summit to be held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo or any Arab State.
وأصدرت قمة بيروت القرار رقم (223) بتاريخ 28/3/2002، كلف اللجنة الوزارية المعنية بدراسة أفكار الأخ القائد معمر القذافي الاستمرار في عملها والإسراع في إنجاز مهمتها، تمهيداً لعرض نتائج أعمالها على قمة استثنائية في مقر الجامعة بالقاهرة أو في أي دولة عربية.
